Strap in folks, WE’VE GOT AN ALMIGHTY CAFÉ ON OUR HANDS! Thanks to the recommendation from @al_macca, our reviewing boots were firmly tied as we jotted down Oxford Street to a little spot named 2 Keys Coffee. Some birthday celebrations for one of the blokes resulted in some sick tummy’s, nevertheless we managed to push through and boy it was worth it. An absolute beauty on our hands here…
Vibes 🍃- 2 Keys (Nu Noir) is a boutique café on Mt Hawthorn’s famous Oxford Street coffee strip. A humble venue with a significant nod to a pop-culture classic, Pulp Fiction. Like the path of a righteous man, very necessity-based inclusions, wouldn’t have minded some music or a heavier lean into the pop-culture aesthetic. Staff were super knowledgeable and keen for a chat about coffee. If only every café could share this passion.
Taste 👅- Fantastic to see their own high-quality single-o’s roasting out the back and utilising Brightside Coffee Roasters space to craft their custom house blend. Heavy on the Costa Rican origin which brough out notes of chocolate, caramel and toffee… another ‘Perth Profile’ extracted and blended to perfection, also cool to see a custom pressure profile and a Moonraker for LMacs. As always, keen to taste something unique and special
Temperature 🌡- Real special stuff temperature wise this morning. Unreal
Glass Size 📏 – They knew what they were doing, so of course 6oz glasses
Froth 🥛 – Was a bit too frothy, the only thing holding this brew back from a breakout season.
General Appearance/Consistency 🤩 – Tulips really were a treat. However, froth was a bit inconsistent
There’s not much better than a divine brew followed by a thorough explanation from the big boss mastermind behind said brew. The owner of 2 Keys decided to go legend-mode and delve into the intricacies of the business and some things that set them apart. A+++ for knowledge, passion and drive to supply Perth’s best LM. Whether you’re in the area or not, a visit to 2 Keys won’t be regretted – they were great people who love coffee serving it up for you and me. LFG.
