Spring has sprung, bringing with it some elite brew-drinking weather. Feeling a beachy spring whimsy, the blokes decided to head to Dejaxo in Swanbourne after it was recommended by a fellow long mac enthusiast.
Vibes š- Dejaxo is a family-run artisan bakery with four stores all around Perth. Today we visited their Swanbourne chapter and were greeted by a very small and cosy store with a very warming environment. Dine-in seating was minimal, we were lucky enough to grab the only table inside. If youāre looking for a chic Instagram cafe, this isnāt it, but it has a whole heap of charm and lovely service. With hot bread and warm pies, it smelled pretty awesome too.
Taste š - We always like to see cafĆ©ās do things a little different, today we had a single origin running standard through their hopper, unsure how often they rotate this, but we sampled a Brazilian āSanto Antonioā bean from 5 Senses Coffee. Super smooth and nutty, really well extracted and such an easy sipper. Misses the complexity of a blend but makes up for it with a juicy body and well-rounded mouth feel.
Temperature š”- Could have been a little hotter, although not too bad
Glass Size š ā 6oz - excellent š«¶š¼
Froth š„ ā 2 of the 4 long macās had near perfect levels, while the other 2 were on the excessive side
General Appearance/Consistency š¤© ā Below average in the latte art compartment
Well, well, well, our trip to Dejaxo did not disappoint. A busy little spot that ticks all the right boxes? Sure works for us. A relaxed atmosphere (similar to Brisbaneās coaching box at half time v the Blues) and great tasting coffee is just what the doctor ordered on this morning in Swanbourne. We would prefer a larger dine in area, but as my mother once told me, good things come in small packages. Whilst they are a specialists in sourdough bread, pastries and delicious looking desserts, their friendly baristas do know how to throw down a mean brew.
Thanks for having us Dejaxo xx
