Welcome back for another week on the great quest for Perth’s finest long mac. Like busy, brew-drinking, bees, the blokes never stop! This week, the blokes hopped in the brewmobile and headed to Bassendean to review the recommended Holly Rayes!
Vibes 🍃- Bassendean is a beautiful area - close enough to the hills to get the fresh bush air in the lungs but still neighbourhoody enough to house a stunning cafe like Holly Rays. This is honestly one of the better vibes the blokes have come across. Such a sick fitout combining old, new, art, mosaic and everything in between. Check it out for yourself!
Taste 👅- Tasting Perth specialty coffee powerhouse ‘Offshoot’ and again their famous Workhorse Blend. A 50/50 split on Brazil and PNG origins meant we were met with a super velvety and heavy body that cuts through the milk with tastes of caramel, cocoa and roasted hazelnut. One of the Lmacs might have been slightly over-extracted but this bloke has been wrong before (and likely will be wrong again).
Temperature 🌡- Yup. A pretty good temperature on these bad boys.
Glass Size 📏 – Size? 6 oz, Perfecto, Magnifique. Glass? Sadly missing, but a ceramic did the job.
Froth 🥛 – Two of the blokes had froth that was spot on, one was a bit more than we bargained for.
General Appearance/Consistency 🤩 – Two beautiful tulips, and one slightly less beautiful tulip. Impressive looking brews nonetheless.
This week we continued our noble search by venturing into Bassendean and boy was it worth it. As the blokes walked through the front door that reminded us of a castle’s gates, we sang ‘Holy Rayes, this place is awesome!’ Much like Perth’s recent sunny weather, Holly Rayes radiated great vibes, with some very stylish décor and smiling staff, we knew we had come to the right place for our morning brew. The baristas were pumping out some lovely coffees and we can see why the locals love this place. We give Holly Rayes our blokes stamp of approval and strong recommendation to all.
