Nestled in the lobby of 140 William Street, March Coffee Studio is about as hidden as a sunny day at the gabba. Showcasing the work of @ziggymakescoffee, a competition-winning barista (recent WA/SA Community Champs), the blokes’ crusade had high hopes, as the saying goes: "when you combine a barista champion and long macs, great things happen." Oh and it was a special blokes birthday that made it just that extra bit special 😉
Vibes 🍃
A big space with tall lobby walls and plenty of natural sunlight yet as well as some of the friendliest and most knowledgeable staff you’ll ever meet who are always up for a chat. We just felt a bit of imposter syndrome rubbing shoulders with corporates in the midst of a government building’s lobby, only thing that really took away from the vibes here.
Taste 👅
Almost felt like a sort of ‘brime’ (brew-crime) to ask for a Long Mac when you are surrounded by designer lattes, experimental flash cold brews, and even the $100 ultra-rare cup of eugenoides. Nonetheless, we had to persevere with a speciality Micrology Brazil/Colombian/Ethiopian blend that cut through the milk nicely with notes of caramel, cocoa and a pleasant buttery mouthfeel. We thought there could’ve been something with more character running through the hopper but in truth, if you wanted something to stand out, take a look at the rest of their very impressive menu!
Temperature 🌡
Mixed bag, but overall pretty happy
Glass Size 📏
Long mac’s in cups, as opposed to the ideal 6oz glasses 😢
Froth 🥛
Nailed this one! Setting a perfect base for their latte art designs 🤌🤌
General Appearance/Consistency 🤩
Very happy with the beautiful designs, consistent across the board too ❤️
We marched into March with our eyes wide like kids in a candy store, or more like blokes in a sick specialty coffee bar (has a nice ring to it). We came to review the long mac, which was well executed and tasted great, however it is what else this spot has that sets it apart. Awesome staff, delicious coffee and a stylish look, March is a coffee lovers dream.
