Yelo all! A fine morning for a long mac it was, with the sky blue and ocean flat, we couldn’t resist a coffee, and of course a good chat! So North we headed, to the avowed ‘Yelo’ in Trigg, yet today we were joined by Freo Dockers young gun, yet more importantly, avid coffee drinker, Neil Erasmus. We took a break from chanting “Ohhh Neil Erasmus” to review the beachside hotspot…
Vibes 🍃- Hard to pick a location any better than right on Trigg Beach: expansive views of the West Australian coastline and the sight of early morning beachgoers and power-walkers finally earning a well-deserved brew. The place was absolutely heaving with a line out and around the corner and quite frankly, it isn’t hard to see why. The dine-in table vibes and serenity amongst the grapevine, ocean waves, and soothing voice of Neil Erasmus were immaculate… hard to pick a better three.
Taste 👅- Taste was a hard one for the blokes to pick through the plastic cups and boasting milk profile of an 8oz (more about that later). Yelo seem to be running a custom blend of Fiori, with a very creamy and rich front palette, mellowed by a praline finish. It would have been wicked to try in a 6oz, but we understand the high volume and large audience so didn't expect a unique flavour profile.
Temperature 🌡 – Reminded us of Neil’s debut actually. A very promising display and given the right coaching has the potential to be something special one day.
Glass Size 📏 – Was a bit of a shame that there was no dine in, understandable considering that the only thing in higher demand is Harry Styles upcoming concert.
Froth 🥛 – We did our best to judge the froth levels, but it was no walk by the ocean. In saying that, Neil was a fan of the froth levels which is all a cafe can really ask for.
General Appearance/Consistency 🤩 - Takeaway cups ☹
A purple haze was added to Yelo this morning by Razzy joining us, we thoroughly enjoyed his company and hope to catch up again soon for a brew. Absolute beaut of a long mac today, despite 8oz cups and no dine in option, they proved themselves to be truly exquisite. Bravo!
