‘Twas the day of JK’s farewell, the morning had to be seized by a brew (obviously) and the blokes has to get ‘black’ out there. So, we strapped on our reviewing shoes and headed onwards to Blacklist Coffee Roasters in Subiaco. Dark. Quaint. Epic. It was undoubtedly some unreal scenes… read for yourself!
Vibes 🍃- Continuing on from the Blokes exquisite run of elite coffee vibes, Blacklist didn’t disappoint. With a clear focus on high-quality single origin coffee and a love for the colour/shade black, this is every coffee aficionados dream. With a central rotating filter brew bar served in wine glasses, it is clear this place is taking the coffee experience to a whole new level. With the space inspired by a ‘coffee cellar door’ and a coffee tasting degustation; getting on with the day was at the ‘black’ of the blokes minds 😉
Taste 👅- Brewing from their own roastery in Welshpool, this blend certainly won’t be on the bloke’s Blacklist. Sampling a light roasted ‘Accent’ blend from Ethiopia and Papua New Guinea was easy on the palette, with a juicy, citrus and floral aroma mellowed with roasted hazelnut, this certainly went down an absolute treat. Almost seemed a crime not trying a rare-filter brew and let me tell you, it did not disappoint!
Temperature 🌡 – Good, respectable etc.
Glass Size 📏 - Thank the heavens above for the return of the 6oz. Also had ripping cup design, 10/10
Froth 🥛 – Could’ve been more definitively, but overall wasn’t a huge deal.
General Appearance/Consistency 🤩 - The latte art was extremely sexy. The consistency however took the brew to a whole new level.
“Wowee zowee” quipped the blokes as they left Blacklist Coffee Roasters and stepped out into the crisp winter morning air. Boy, are they brewing up something special on Hay St and it certainly packed a punch. We are so keen to come back here and try everything else on their epic looking menu - the “coffee mojito” and “cold fashioned”, not to mention the awesome list of filter single origins. Best of all: their infectious, no-nonsense passion for good brews. Doesn’t get much better.
