Review #28 - @archieandmax_espresso

As we put on our reviewing boots for another hopefully cracking brew, we were still out of place by the lack of cycling cleats wrapping our walking instruments known as our feet. The GT is many things, but a haven for middle aged executives who have a keen interest in lycra and sweating for physical activity trumps all others. Archie and Max Espresso in Dalkeith was quite the drug we needed for a Sundee.

Vibes 🍃- If parking in between two Porsche Cayenne didn’t set the scene for this review, then maybe it was the slow drive out zig-zagging between potential Tour de France dads who never quite made it… Inside the café was thankfully a sanctuary from this vicious cycle (get it), with a nice open front of house area as well as a hidden back garden accompanying some awesome art murals. Not putting the vibe’o’meter to the ‘Max’ but no complaints :)

Taste 👅- The Blokes first taste of Northbridge Coffee Roasters and certainly not disappointed. A&M rock a custom blend featuring your classic tastes of a Northbridge night: well-balanced opening with a bright and sharp finish… also had roasted nut, toffee and cinnamon but that doesn’t fit with the analogy does it. Well extracted on the day, no ‘arch(ie)’ enemy of the blokes!

Temperature 🌡 – The blokes adored the scorching temperature of the long macs, something which has been lacking in the Perth coffee scene as of recent.

Glass Size 📏 - Like Cam Smiths short game, impeccable.

Froth 🥛 – Archer and Maxene could have definitely settled the kettle on the amount of froth.

General Appearance/Consistency 🤩 - The day has finally arrived. Believe it or not the blokes were finally greeted with a 🦢. Unfortunately, this epic feat couldn’t be replicated for all 4 brews😢

Well, there we have it; another brew graces the brew’o’meter like a shooting star racing across the night sky. Fleeting, temporary, but beautiful nonetheless. Despite feeling a bit out of place in prime GT territory, the blokes had a jolly good time at Archie & Max. So, if you like a good brew in affluent surroundings, we couldn’t recommend this spot more.
