An extraordinarily large “cin cin” to all of our Italian followers. Today the blokes made their jolly way down to Cottesloe to visit the aptly named Il Lido. The blokes yearned for a brew that would take them to the sun-soaked beaches of Sicily; or perhaps the luscious fields and quaint townships of Tuscany. Having scrounged a parking spot next to wealthy golfing-types, the blokes boarded their metaphorical plane…
Vibes 🍃- Il Lido (“The Beach” in Italian) is a beautiful 1930’s art-deco inspired espresso bar and restaurant right on the coastline of Cottesloe Beach. The blokes were rightfully up early to ‘seas’ the day and we can’t think of many places we would have rather been on a stunning Sunday morning – awesome table service, awesome people and an impressive wall-to-wall wine rack that was an all too recent reminder for last night’s antics. Fintastic set-up 🤙
Taste 👅 – Somewhat of a hidden blend in the Il Lido hopper but after some digging (where there is a will there’s a wave) it was found to be by a roaster us blokes are long-time supporters and first-time drinkers of ‘mano a mano’ coffee roasters in West Perth. Strong front of mouth apricot and chocolate taste, finishing with caramel notes and perhaps a good dose of vitamin sea. Extracted ‘whale’, ratio on point… no salty Bloke’s today.
Temperature 🌡 – Would have been 60 degrees in the Italian alps but was a bit cooler than we’d want at sea level.
Glass Size 📏 – Perfecto
Froth 🥛 – Frothy as the sea ‘shell’ we say, but in a very good way. Some stunning levels here.
General Appearance/Consistency 🤩 - Latte art was a myth tbh. Consisten’sea’ was some of the best we’ve ever come across though, Common Il Lido W.
The Italians are a passionate and amorous bunch. With hearts of love, emotion and desire. All traits that were evident in the brew cooked up at il Lido, the Cottesloe beachside hotspot for wine lovers and Range Rover owners. The mainstay cafe was definitely an experience to remember with consistency being key for their Long Mac production. Don your activewear and head down to the GT for a sterling cuppa!
