Happy new year, fellow lomathusiasts (long mac enthusiasts). The blokes’ resolution this year is very simple: to drink more brews than ever, in pursuit of the most enigmatic, premium, and delicious long mac offered in the city that never sleeps (Perth). 2023 could not have started any better than with a trip to one of our new favourites, Dark Star in Osborne Park….
Vibes 🍃- Venturing back to the home of Perth coffee – Osborne Park, the blokes stumbled upon Darkstars ‘Experience Lab’ that was truly out of this world. From the awesome staff, in-house roastery, commercial coffee equipment as far as the eye can see, cupping and conference rooms, training facilities and some of the coolest street art, this place ticks all the boxes. If the blokes had a HQ, it would look something like this. 5 Stars Darkstar.
Taste 👅 – Darkstar rightfully roast their own beans (out the back!) and today we sampled their most popular ‘Calibre’ blend. Featuring washed origins from both Guatemala and El Salvador this blend offered a soft cocoa and sweet butterscotch taste meddled with dark almond tones that the blokes ‘Siriusly’ enjoyed.
Temperature 🌡 – Temp was hot, even a bit raunchy, although could’ve been a bit hotter (seriously fussy take though get off your high horse, bloke).
Glass Size 📏 – As good as it gets, 6oz of the best, raise the bat and kiss the badge.
Froth 🥛 - Loved it, infinity plus one
General Appearance/Consistency 🤩 – Like our AFL Fantasy teams this year… the best the world (and others) has ever seen - 3 different swans and a seahorse!
Wow. That was truly a transcendental experience. Darkstar’s brew took us far beyond the darkest and starriest realm we’ve known. They channelled their inner Pat Benatar and really hit us with their best shot! There were more smiles at our table than there are pages in a library. Made us feel joy we’ve only experienced at a Wiggles concert as children. To quote every UFC announcer ever… “I think we have a winner”
91.0/100 on the Brew ‘o’ Meter 🤖🤝
