The grapevine tells us Cristiano Ronaldo famously yells “SIUU” after scoring a goal in reference to the coffee goldmine of Western Australia that is Subiaco. Holy Moly Batman, this was a brew for all brewssociates (brew-associates). As my primary school teachers used to say - stop, look, and listen as we travel to OBI Coffee…
Vibes 🍃- This pony-sized coffee house sits proudly on the ever-famous Hay Street in Subi with beautiful ground to ceiling glass windows. Inside is a stunning bar set-up with colours and timbers reminiscent of their good friends Micrology in Osborne Park. No full kitchen set-up but plenty of bagel and food cabinet options, and even a selection of ‘bottomless batch brews’. In a battle of the vibes, Obi Wan.
Taste 👅- No surprise to see Micrology running through their house and single hoppers and we certainly weren’t disappointed. Peddling a Colombian, Ethiopian and PNG blend this was something out of the ordinary. Notes of dark choc, cherry and almond butter, this was one of our faves of all time. For those who like their coffee on the ‘dark side’, the Kenyan batch brew was also delish.
Temperature 🌡- my father once told me that, ‘temperature is the most important piece of the puzzle when it comes to long macs’. Obi completed that puzzle (respect✊).
Glass Size 📏 – We absolutely love this glass design. To make it even better they were 6oz😉
Froth 🥛 - We asked, Obi Wan delivered. A true testament to the awesome baristas obi provided.
General Appearance/Consistency 🤩 – They were nearly as sexy as Ken, and everywhere else they’d be a 10.
“OBI! OBI! OBI!” We chanted as we regrettably left this breathtaking brew spot. Well worthy of the honour of 4th in the brew’o’rankings. Such a dope vibe, coffee, location, and decor. Was an outstanding all round cafe. Well. Bloody. Done.
90.1 on the Brew ‘o’ Meter! 🤖🤝
