Another day, another breview (brew-review) for the blokes. Well and truly sick of each other’s company, the blokes decided to invite a guest: long-standing friend of the blokes, Oly Peterson. Oly (dressed in @oliclothing), hosts 6PR and is an accomplished multimedia journalist. He also knows his brews. In Oly’s esteemed company, the blokes hit up Louis Baxter’s in Subiaco. What a magical day.
Vibes 🍃- This cosy café sits just metres from the Subi train station and brings a great deal of community and life to the area. Whilst it may be limited in space, it is designed brilliantly to keep any café-goer happy with open outdoor seating, comfy indoor cushions, awesome hanging lights and wall-art, as well as a huge TV hung eloquently to play nothing but ESPN. Oly approves… Blokes approve. 🤝
Taste 👅- Super impressed to see a single-origin Colombian bean running as standard through the house hopper. ‘Mod-us’ very happy to see Perth roasters Modus behind Louis’s beans selection – from espresso to filter. Notes of toffee, caramel, and sweet mango that we simply couldn’t fault. Perfectly extracted and ratio was on point with the 6oz glass. Divine.
Temperature 🌡- Oly Brought his own thermometer (apparently he always does that), LB absolutely hit the nail on the head with 60-degree temp.
Glass Size 📏 – It is not secret that 6oz is the way of the future. Awesome to see LB hop on that Kanetrain.
Froth 🥛 - As seen by the ruler, the froth was a near perfect 1cm.
General Appearance/Consistency 🤩 – The long macs were consistently awesome all around. Nothing crazy, but impressive.
After the crowd concluded chanting “OP! OP! OP!” following the arrival of the one, the only, @oliverpeterson, we sat in awe of this absolute legend as we sipped on our sensual Long Macs. Mr Baxter did not go wrong today, amazing all-round brew in a quaint little spot, perfect to take a bloke or blokette and enjoy an utterly gratifying brew. Special thanks to honorary bloke OP for his sensational company. What a man, what a brew spot. Head to Louis Baxter’s, we’ll give you the red hot tip!
